JOHANNESBURG--June 19, 2012--Written by Richard Finlayson, Senior International Editor for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--At the end of this month, a special-purpose entity, NuStart Energy Development, will be disbanded after achieving the two objectives for which it was established. When NuStart Energy Development was formed in 2004, the 10 utility company members outlined these goals: to obtain a combined construction and operating license (COL) from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) using an untested licensing process developed in 1992, and to complete the design engineering for the Westinghouse AP1000 technology.
